Welcome to Monte Cristo map and image page. Montecristo Island, as it is spelled locally and on most maps, lies 22 nautical miles south of the largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago, Elba, between Pianosa, Giannutri and the mainland coastline at Grosseto. The island is small, only 10 square kilometers with the only landing spot being at Cala Maestra, on the western side. From the landing it is a one hour hike to the old monestary founded by Saint Mamiliano at Il Convento.
