Welcome to the website of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Monte Cristo. We are provisional, but only a tad revolutionary! Take a brief tour and experience the magic of a truely enchanted island republic!

The Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Monte Cristo was  reconstituted in the Spring of 2005 by the exiled leaders of the Montecristo Federal Movement, currently living in Italy, Spain and the United States. It's ruling body, the Great Council of the Republic, officially promotes the cause of an autonomous Republic with a permanently  exiled government and citizenry to prevent spoilage of the environmentally protected island state, located some 40 miles off the Italian coast. The island has been under Italian rule for several centuries and is now part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. It is spelled locally as Montecristo.
